It was 1am when we first arrived at the Bicycle Film Festival worldwide headquarters in New York’s West Village – but there was still plenty of time for a some Brooklyn brews and a belly full of beef from the local Good Stuff Diner; an authentically 50s-styled, all-night restaurant. Had to be the best burger in the Northern Hemisphere.
The sun was coming up as we were assigned a square of carpet and a couch-pillow back at HQ – between beers, burgers, my bike and a hard floor, I resolved to sacrifice good health for good experiences… at least for the next fortnight.
Re-discovering the city on a custom-built, single speed track bike became a two-wheeled ticket into some of the plumpest parties we’ve ever seen. Highlights ran something like this: BBQ with badass international cycling gang Black Label Bike Club; a mad (really) art exhibition at a Crest Hardware store in Brooklyn; dawn rooftop gatherings with the local wildlife, and pretty girls on pretty bikes soaking up the summer on 7th Ave.
So what is this Bicycle Film Festival all about? Find out...
